As soon as Charlie’s car arrived at the airport, the cabin door opened, and two figures stepped out quickly. They stood respectfully by the boarding ladder. Both had come on this flight at Charlie’s request but were unsure why he had summoned them to Mexico. As Charlie’s car got closer, Hong Wu leaned toward Chen Zekai and whispered, “What do you think Master Ye wants us to do in Mexico?”

Chen Zekai shrugged and replied, “I have no idea. I just followed the young master’s orders to take this plane with you. I’m not aware of his plans.”

Hong Wu clicked his tongue and said, “It looks like Master Ye is planning something big. I thought we were going to do something in Mexico and maybe grab some tacos. I really enjoy those, but they don’t taste as good back home. Authentic food has to be eaten where it comes from to really appreciate it.”

Chen Zekai smiled and said, “Don’t rush to eat tacos yet, Hong Wu. I’ll arrange it for you after you finish what the young master has planned.”

He then reminded Hong Wu, “But be careful in Mexico. It’s not like our country, especially not like Jinling. Here, even a teenage kid can have a real gun in his pocket. If there’s a disagreement, they might just pull it out and shoot.”

Hong Wu shivered at the thought and waved his hands in disbelief. “That’s crazy! I have a good reputation in Jinling. If I got shot by a kid in Mexico, that would be just embarrassing.”

Chen Zekai chuckled. “So, are you not interested in tacos anymore?”

Hong Wu shrugged. “Tacos are just tortillas everywhere. I can eat a better version back in China, like fish-flavored shredded pork.”

While they talked, a Cadillac pulled up. Chen Zekai quickly stepped forward and opened the car door, saying respectfully, “Hello, young master!”

He noticed Su Ruoli in the car and added, “Miss Su is here too!” He gave Hong Wu a knowing wink.

Understanding the cue, Hong Wu walked around to the other side, opened the door, and greeted, “Hello, Master Ye! Hello, Miss Su!”

Su Ruoli felt a bit awkward and replied politely, “Hello, Mr. Hong. Hello, Mr. Chen.”

As Charlie Wade got out of the car, he said to both of them, “Thank you for coming all this way. We might need your help in New York soon, and I worry we won’t have enough people.”

“You can trust me, so I called you here,” Chen Zekai said seriously.

“Our duty is to serve you, Master. How can this be hard work? It’s part of who we are,” he added.

Hong Wu laughed and chimed in, “Yes, Master Ye! I’m like a brick for you—I can move anywhere you need me. I’m a brick with legs! If you need me, I’ll be right there.”

Charlie Wade smiled back, “Hong Wu, I’ve missed having you around. I can’t imagine how many amazing pieces of Western art have been missed without your talent.”

Hong Wu grinned, “Don’t worry, Master Ye! I carry my tools with me, so I can create new works anytime, anywhere!”

“Great!” Charlie nodded, smiling. He waved at the two and said, “Let’s go upstairs and talk!”
