About ten minutes later, the plane carrying Charlie and Lin Wan’er (Alani) received clearance to adjust its route. The aircraft tilted thirty degrees northward as it headed toward Eastcliff.
Charlie then used the satellite phone onboard to call Stephen Thompson, the housekeeper. When the call connected, Stephen’s voice greeted him, “Hello, who am I speaking to?”
Charlie responded, “It’s me, Butler Stephen.”
Stephen replied respectfully, “Master, I recognize this number as the satellite phone on the Wade family’s plane. Are you currently on the aircraft?”
“Yes,” Charlie confirmed. “I’m en route to Eastcliff and will land in about two hours. Could you arrange for a vehicle to pick me up at the airport?”
Stephen quickly replied, “Certainly, young master. I will arrange a convoy to meet you at the airport, and I will also inform the master and others.”
Charlie interjected, “There’s no need for a large show. You’re the head butler of the Wade family, and it would be too extravagant for you to pick me up personally. Just arrange for a car to be ready at the airport for my transport. I plan to head straight to the Wade family residence. Just let the old man know; there’s no need to inform anyone else.”
