The crew chief understood and assumed that Chen Zhimin had arranged for the plane to pick up his wife in China. He dismissed his earlier doubts and said respectfully, “Understood, Mr. Chen. We’ll apply for takeoff now and keep you updated once we arrive.”
“Thank you,” Chen Zhimin responded before hanging up.
Meanwhile, Hank efficiently erased the entire hospital’s surveillance storage system, making all footage permanently inaccessible. Instead of returning to the ward, he headed straight to the hospital’s top floor to clean up blood stains and remnants of flesh.
Once he finished his task, he called Howard Rothschild, starting with, “I’m sorry, sir, but Peter Zhou has managed to escape.”
Howard’s anger flared as he exclaimed, “Where did he go? Didn’t I instruct you to monitor him at Manhattan Hospital?!”
Hank explained, “He was taken by a helicopter arranged by Chen Zhimin, An’s son-in-law.”
“Chen Zhimin?!” Howard shouted in fury. “What? Is the An family involved in this too?!”
Hank replied, “I can’t confirm that yet, but it was indeed Chen Zhimin who picked him up, and the helicopter was registered to Anjia’s general aviation company.”
“Unbelievable!” Howard seethed. “Is the An family trying to oppose me?”
Hank responded, “As far as I know, key members of the An family have been in China for a while and haven’t returned to the U.S. Chen Zhimin is in charge here. I suspect the An family is not involved in this situation.”
Howard retorted angrily, “I need to get to the bottom of this! And find Chen Zhimin’s whereabouts immediately! I want to know where his helicopter went!”
