Charlie Wade switched off the car and decided to escort Nanako to the elevator first. From there, they would head up to the first floor before making their way back to his villa.
As they were about to exit the vehicle, they noticed a female driver stepping out of a car parked diagonally across from them. After securing her vehicle, she grabbed her bag and made her way to the elevator area.
Spotting the woman, Nanako turned to Charlie Wade and said, “Mr. Wade, that’s the neighbor I mentioned before. I only found out that Master Jingqing was coming to Aurous Hill when I heard her chatting with a friend.”
Charlie Wade nodded thoughtfully, smiling as he replied, “It sounds like you should thank her when you get the chance. She helped you uncover the truth with just one phone call.”
“Absolutely!” Nanako agreed, adding, “If it weren’t for her, I might never have realized it.”
After a moment, Nanako asked, “Would you be interested in meeting Master Jingqing, Lord Wade? He might offer you some inspiration too.”
Charlie Wade shook his head gently, saying, “Given my unique circumstances, it’s best for me to avoid meeting someone like him who has already attained enlightenment.”
As he spoke, Charlie Wade observed the woman walking away and felt a sudden urge to be more discerning. He tapped into his spiritual energy to gauge her presence.
He had no doubts about her, but the thought of the ‘scholar’ from the Po Qing Society lingered in his mind. He believed that what seemed like coincidences might actually hold deeper meanings.
To put his mind at ease, he decided to use his spiritual energy for confirmation. If she turned out to be an ordinary person, lacking any martial or spiritual understanding, it would suggest that he was simply overthinking.
After his assessment, Charlie Wade realized that the woman was indeed neither a warrior nor a monk, which eased his concerns completely.
They both stepped out of the car, and as they approached the elevator hall, they found the woman waiting there. Coincidentally, one of the elevator doors opened just as they arrived.
The woman entered the elevator, swiped her card, and then turned around, surprised to see Nanako and Charlie Wade following her. “Ah, it’s you!” she exclaimed.
Nanako smiled and replied, “What a coincidence! Have you just finished work?”
“No,” the woman responded with a friendly smile. “I’m just a housewife, so I don’t really have a job to go to. I just came back from having dinner with my best friend.”
Curiously, she turned to Charlie Wade and asked Nanako, “Is this your boyfriend?”
Nanako felt a slight blush creeping up her cheeks but quickly shook her head, saying, “He’s just a friend who happens to live in the same community. I rode back with him.”
She refrained from admitting that Charlie Wade was her boyfriend, especially in front of her neighbor, considering that he was the owner of Tomson Yipin. It would certainly be awkward if they ran into him and Claire again someday.
The woman nodded in understanding and then asked Charlie Wade, “Do you also live in this building?”
Charlie Wade shook his head, replying, “I actually live in a different building.”
