The Amazing son in law Chapter 6790
Hank felt a wave of relief wash over him when he noticed that Charlie Wade was comfortable revealing his identity in front of his future wife and stepson.
Having always valued honesty, Hank had sincere feelings for Matilda. His only desire was to spend the rest of his life with her, and he didn’t want to feel the pressure of pretending to be someone he wasn’t whenever he encountered Charlie. He didn’t want to be seen merely as the son-in-law of the Willson family who dabbled in Feng Shui and mingled with local dignitaries.
Acting wasn’t his strong suit, and deception was even more challenging for him.
However, if Charlie had chosen to decline, Hank would have completely understood and respected that decision. He certainly didn’t anticipate Charlie agreeing so readily.
At that moment, Hank was unaware that Charlie Wade had intentions of bringing all four members of his newly formed family under his guidance.
In a relaxed and joyful mood, he and Charlie made their way to the hillside villa at Champs Elysees.
The family had already prepared a feast and was eagerly awaiting their arrival. As soon as they spotted Charlie Wade’s car ascending the mountain, Hank’s three uncles, aunt, and Li Yalin all rushed out to greet him.
Although the elderly couple wanted to join the gathering, the recent drop in temperature in Aurous Hill, coupled with the darkening sky, prompted the younger family members to insist they stay inside to avoid catching a cold.
Before the car even came to a complete stop, Charlie noticed the five family members waiting for him.
He felt a mix of surprise and being a bit overwhelmed, as it was quite a significant display of respect for the elders to wait for him like this. The gesture felt a bit excessive in terms of etiquette.
However, for the An family, this show of respect was entirely fitting.
After all, Charlie had saved the An family from peril on two separate occasions, and such a debt of gratitude could not simply be measured by age or seniority.
This was especially true for Li Yalin.
If it hadn’t been for Charlie saving his life, he would have likely been left to rot in the American soil, riddled with bullet holes.
Once Charlie parked the car and stepped out alongside Hank, his uncle was the first to approach, beaming and calling out, “Charlie!”
Charlie quickly returned the greetings, addressing each person in turn: “Uncle, second uncle, third uncle, aunt, and Chief Inspector Li.”
Then he promptly introduced Hank, saying, “I’d like you all to meet my mother’s schoolmate, Professor Hank. He used to work on Wall Street and has come to Aurous Hill to teach at the Aurous Hill University of Finance and Economics.”
Homula, the second uncle responsible for external affairs for the An family, nodded with enthusiasm. “Professor Hank, I’ve heard so much about you from Wall Street. They say you’re the most astute Asian in investment banking. I’ve heard plenty about your impressive accomplishments!”
Hank responded with humility, “Mr. An, you’re too kind. When it comes to investment insight, no one I know can hold a candle to Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom). In her presence, I feel like just a primary school student.”
Realizing that mentioning the late Lydia (Ava) (Charlie’s mom) might be seen as disrespectful to the An family, he quickly added, “I apologize for bringing it up.”
