The Amazing son in law Chapter 6925
He couldn’t quite grasp the situation. Don Albert was merely Charlie Wade’s younger brother, and in terms of wealth, strength, and social standing, he was significantly beneath him.
Yet, when Don Albert uttered the words “one of us,” it struck a chord within me…
I found myself genuinely touched, even a bit flattered.
Without hesitation, I lifted my glass, stood up, and addressed Don Albert: “Mr. Albert is absolutely right; we’re all family. Let’s toast, Mr. Albert!”
Now it was Don Albert’s turn to feel flattered. He thought to himself, “Wow, I, Don Albert, am in the presence of Master Ye. What an incredible honor! Who would have predicted that the second-in-command of the renowned Rothschild family would raise a glass to me? Next week marks the anniversary of my late father’s passing. When I visit his grave, I can just imagine him jumping up and scolding me for boasting…”
Noticing Don Albert sitting there with a grin yet not accepting the toast, Steve quickly leaned in and whispered, “Mr. Albert? Mr. Albert?”
Don Albert snapped back to reality, expressing a hint of regret: “Ah, Mr. Rothschild, it would be wonderful if you could stay a few more days. We’re not quite close enough to be brothers yet!”
He then promptly stood up, raised his glass, and extended it toward Steve, proclaiming loudly: “Mr. Rothschild, I toast to you!”
Steve replied with a smile, “Let’s skip the toasts for now and do it all together later!”
“It must be deeper, definitely deeper!” Don Albert chimed in happily. “Next time you arrive in Aurous Hill, come straight to Tianxiang Mansion as soon as you land. I’ll host a banquet in your honor! We’re all brothers here, so treat this place like your own home. While you’re in Aurous Hill, feel free to come by anytime for a meal. Just ask the chef to whip up whatever you like from the menu—no need to place an order!”
Steve suddenly found himself enjoying the strong underworld vibe at the table, feeling quite pleased. He said earnestly, “If Mr. Wade and Mr. Albert plan to visit the United States in the future, please let me know ahead of time. I’ll personally greet you at the airport and take care of everything for both of you!”
After sharing this, he glanced at Zhou Liangyun nearby, thumped his chest, and assured him, “Mr. Zhou, don’t worry. I’m not like my father. He’s an old-fashioned man, always preoccupied with the Four-sided Treasure Tower. I’m different; those treasures belong to China anyway. If I ever become the head of the Rothschild family, I will make it a point to return all Chinese artifacts. By then, you’ll be able to return to the United States without worrying about anyone’s opinion!”
As Steve made this declaration, he couldn’t help but look at Charlie Wade, curious to see his reaction to such bold claims and aspirations.
Although Charlie Wade wore a slight smile, he mused to himself, “It’s true, men everywhere are the same. Once they’ve had a few drinks, they all tend to exaggerate.”
Zhou Liangyun, standing by, understood that it would likely take two to three decades or even longer for Steve to rise to patriarch, so he simply listened for amusement, smiling and nodding while raising his glass: “Thank you in advance, Mr. Rothschild!”
Steve responded earnestly, “Why thank you? Isn’t this my responsibility? I can’t control the British government or their royal family. Otherwise, I would demand they return all the Chinese artifacts in the British Museum!”
Then he turned to Charlie Wade again, his alcohol-induced confidence leading him to suggest, “Mr. Wade, what if I hire some mercenaries to reclaim all the Chinese cultural relics from the British Museum?”
Charlie Wade felt a mix of amusement and exasperation, smiling as he replied, “It doesn’t seem quite right for the British to have stolen Chinese artifacts, only to have the Americans assist in retrieving them. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but that approach isn’t advisable. It’s more fitting for the Chinese to reclaim their own heritage in the future.”
