Charlie Wade accompanied Lin Wan’er (Alani) as they strolled through Bergen, and they didn’t embark on their return to Osu City until darkness fell.

During their journey back, Lin Wan’er (Alani) proposed to Charlie Wade, “Since you’re planning to wait for the three elders of the Poqing Society to leave Nigeria before launching a surprise attack, why not expedite the expansion of our ground network to Nigeria soon? The three elders will probably depart by plane, so if we prepare ahead of time, we might be able to track them among those leaving the country.”

Charlie Wade nodded in agreement, stating, “This task should be approached in two phases. First, we need to send someone to Nigeria to acquire an existing vending machine company. Second, we must quickly customize a batch of hardware, as the vending machines currently operating in regions like Africa may lack monitoring capabilities.”

Lin Wan’er (Alani) concurred, adding, “Customizing the hardware can also be divided into two steps. The initial step would be to create a batch of Internet-enabled monitoring devices that can be used to upgrade their older models for immediate use. The subsequent step would involve designing entirely new vending machines, integrating all the required functions into them.”

Charlie Wade pondered this and inquired, “It shouldn’t be too complicated to customize monitoring devices that can connect to the Internet, right?”

“It’s quite straightforward,” Lin Wan’er (Alani), who possessed extensive knowledge, explained. “To fulfill this requirement, we only need two modules: one for monitoring and one for communication. The largest monitoring company in the world is based in China, where you can find various types of monitoring equipment. As for communication, there are numerous leading global companies, making the hardware easy to source. China has a well-established industrial chain for both areas. Once we identify our needs, we can quickly connect with hardware suppliers. Many monitoring companies even offer wireless devices that utilize operator networks. Some function via WIFI, while others don’t require WIFI at all, as real-time data transmission can occur through local operators’ data services. We simply need to request slight modifications to the hardware to tailor it for vending machines.”

Charlie Wade then asked her, “If we implement the solutions provided by these manufacturers, wouldn’t all the surveillance footage be uploaded to their servers initially?”

“Exactly,” Lin Wan’er (Alani) affirmed. “According to their solution, we’d have to utilize their cloud service. Essentially, the real-time images captured by the cameras would be transmitted to their server via the network and subsequently sent to the terminal for customers to view anytime. This method allows us to establish monitoring, and later we can synchronize all video data from their server into the AI model’s database. The downside is that the monitoring footage wouldn’t be entirely private, but this isn’t a significant concern. These suppliers handle data for a vast number of devices, so to conserve server capacity, they typically don’t retain customers’ video data unless payment is made for storage. Thus, there’s minimal risk of data leakage.”

“Understood!” Charlie Wade replied promptly, “I will arrange for someone to purchase all the vending machine companies in Nigeria, while simultaneously seeking a hardware solution in China to enable monitoring at major airports and ports in Nigeria as quickly as possible!”

…

Madagascar, situated in southeastern Africa, is the largest island nation on the continent.

The western coast of Madagascar features an extensive coastline and expansive plains, where the estate of Lord Banks, the elder of the Banks family, is located.

Although referred to as a manor, it is actually a vast African grassland stretching endlessly, dotted with robust and towering baobab trees.

When Lord Banks first arrived in Madagascar, he found many aspects of the place unfamiliar. Fortunately, Charlie Wade was not inclined to subject the old man to undue hardship, allowing Zara Banks to invest additional funds to enhance his living conditions. Consequently, Lord Banks acquired more land and constructed a villa as grand as a palace, truly establishing himself as a landlord in Madagascar.

Currently, the villa is still under construction. Given its substantial size, even with the best construction team mobilized, it will take at least a year and a half to finish. Many decorative materials are scarce in Madagascar, one of the world’s least developed countries, necessitating their transport from various global locations by plane at considerable expense.

Aside from the necessities of daily life, Lord Banks focuses on two primary concerns each day: closely monitoring the villa’s construction and patrolling his vast territory by helicopter. His domain covers over 4,000 square kilometers and lacks paved roads, making horseback riding or helicopter travel the only viable options for patrols.

It’s noteworthy that Madagascar’s underdevelopment is striking; when viewed from a helicopter, the scenery appears almost untouched by modern civilization. The density of wildlife is far greater than what one would see in a zoo, and the unique shapes of the baobab trees evoke both the rawness of a primitive world and the wonder of a paradise.
