The Amazing son in law Chapter 6973
Upon returning to the banquet hall, Steve noticed his father, Howard, had not yet arrived.
Shortly after Steve took his seat, Howard returned, a pill tucked away in his pocket, his expression reflecting a blend of joy and sadness.
Steve’s gaze was fixed on his father’s face, searching for signs of youthfulness that might indicate he had received charlie Wade’s elixir from Helena during their private meeting.
However, to his surprise, Howard looked exactly the same as he had just ten minutes prior.
Steve couldn’t help but wonder, “Dad is so committed to Northern Europe this time; why didn’t he manage to get a pill from charlie Wade?”
Contemplating this, a small sense of happiness washed over him. Perhaps charlie Wade had not given his father the elixir but had instead met with him privately, potentially setting the stage for future leverage.
Unbeknownst to Steve, Howard was meticulously safeguarding half of the pill.
Despite his eagerness to take it, Howard decided to wait until he returned to the United States, considering his eldest son’s feelings first. He planned to find the right moment to use the pill after Steve’s trip to China.
At that moment, Helena had yet to reappear in the banquet hall. Once Howard settled into his chair, he leaned over to Steve and whispered, “Let’s head back early tomorrow morning. There’s a lot waiting for me at home, and you want to prepare for your trip to China as soon as possible, right?”
Steve nodded in agreement, saying, “I’ll follow your lead, Dad.”
As they spoke, Steve recalled charlie Wade’s earlier words and added, “By the way, Dad, once we’re back in New York, I need to head to Houston. I’m looking to acquire a remote sensing satellite company, and I hope you’ll approve it.”
Steve understood that although the company charlie Wade was interested in was valued at three to four billion dollars, he was not yet the head of the family. Such a significant acquisition needed his father’s authorization; otherwise, Howard might feel disregarded.
This situation was different from his independent investments in China. During his upcoming trip, his father had granted him the authority to manage a 50 billion dollar investment fund. This meant Steve could invest freely within China, but misallocating those funds elsewhere would likely upset Howard.
Thus, gaining his father’s approval was essential for making the acquisition known.
Howard looked taken aback for a moment, querying curiously, “What’s prompted your sudden interest in acquiring a remote sensing satellite company? It doesn’t seem to align with our current business interests.”
Steve replied earnestly, “Dad, I believe the satellite market is poised for significant growth in the future. We’re a bit late to the game and have missed out on opportunities like Musk’s ventures. I want to acquire a related company to gain experience and familiarize myself with the satellite industry, including manufacturing and launch services.”
Howard responded calmly, “Entering the satellite industry now might be too late. Regardless of its potential profitability, it doesn’t compare to oil or finance in terms of returns and stability.”
Seeing his father’s lack of enthusiasm, Steve quickly added, “The company I’m eyeing is valued at around 5 billion dollars. While I recognize this industry may not match energy or finance, I’m eager to explore it. I hope you’ll support my decision.”
When Howard learned the company was only worth 5 billion dollars, he paused to think before saying, “If you’re keen on exploring this avenue, I, as your father, should offer my support. Go ahead with your plans. I’ll increase your budget; you can make decisions up to 10 billion dollars.”
Howard was gradually becoming more comfortable with Steve’s ambitions. He sometimes felt his son was impressively sensible, and he wanted to encourage that. By supporting Steve’s interests, he felt he could show his kindness and understanding.
This was the response Steve had been hoping for.
