As Lin Keting gazed at Kai, her thoughts became a blur. She could feel the warmth radiating from Kai’s chest and the tenderness in his eyes, making her feel as though she might just lose her balance.

Confused by the situation, Lin Keting wondered how it was possible for Kai to be so attentive to her, especially after she had only been following him to learn more about him.

“I’m fine…” she managed to say, offering Kai a faint smile.

In response, Kai held her gaze and gradually moved closer.

Lin Keting’s heart raced, aware of what was about to happen—Kai was leaning in for a kiss.

She wanted to pull away, but she found herself frozen, unable to move as if her body had no strength left.

In the end, all Lin Keting could do was close her eyes, bracing herself for Kai’s kiss. Surprisingly, a part of her felt a flicker of anticipation.

Suddenly, a buzzing sound filled the air, and a golden light erupted from Lin Keting’s palm, jolting her back to reality.

To her astonishment, she realized that Kai hadn’t even come close to hugging her, let alone kissing her. It had all been a mere illusion, and Kai was still standing at a distance.

Perplexed by the vividness of the illusion, Lin Keting felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. If anyone had witnessed that moment, she would have been mortified.

“That was close; I almost made a fool of myself…” she muttered under her breath, glaring at the three statues nearby before slapping one of them with her palm.

To her surprise, the statue didn’t budge at all.

Only then did Lin Keting remember that she was out of spiritual energy and lacked sword intent; she had relied solely on the runes in her palm to dispel the illusion.

The onlookers were astonished to see Lin Keting remain conscious rather than succumb to the illusion, yet no one dared to approach her.

“Eldest Miss, let me handle this,” the Right Blind Elder declared, brandishing his longsword and unleashing a surge of sword intent.

The sword intent struck the stone statue with ferocity, causing it to shatter instantly.

As the rubble settled, a blood-red dagger emerged from within the statue, exuding a sinister aura.

“What is this?” Lin Keting exclaimed, reaching for the dagger, only to be halted by Kai’s firm intervention.

“Miss Lin, do not touch that dagger. It carries an overwhelming Yin Fateful Qi that your body cannot withstand,” Kai warned, having sensed the dangerous energy the moment it appeared.

If their powers hadn’t been suppressed, the Yin Fiend Qi might not have posed a significant threat. But in their current state as ordinary individuals, even a small amount could be harmful.

Lin Keting glanced at Kai and, trusting him, retracted her hand.

“That dagger is a celestial artifact…” a middle-aged man in a black robe suddenly exclaimed, rushing forward with excitement to seize it.

Seeing this, the Right Blind Elder swiftly positioned his sword to block the man’s path, declaring coldly, “How dare you! That’s an item our Missy discovered!”

The black-robed man froze, taking a couple of steps back. After witnessing the Right Blind Elder’s display of strength in shattering the statue, he knew he couldn’t challenge him.

“Even though you broke the statue, we found it first! If you claim it’s yours, we won’t accept that,” an older man interjected.

He had just retreated from a fierce struggle, and now that a divine weapon lay within the statue, he was unwilling to concede.

“Exactly! We discovered the statue first…”

“You opened the entrance spell formation, and we paid spirit stones to enter. We can’t let everything inside belong to you!”

“We’ll buy it with spirit stones if necessary!”

The crowd murmured in discontent, their voices rising in protest.
