An Understated Dominance - Chapter 302
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Do you agree with what I said?” Dustin’s hope faded as Dahlia remained silent. He had given her a chance to explain, but she didn’t say what he wanted to hear.
“I’m sorry. I have my reasons,” Dahlia replied, feeling a deep pain in her heart. It was hard to breathe.
“Reasons?” Dustin scoffed. “What could make you sell your body? What stops you from telling me the truth?”
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” Dahlia cried, overwhelmed with sorrow.
“Don’t apologize to me. We’re already divorced, so I can’t control what you do. You didn’t betray me,” Dustin said, his expression hardening. “But please, don’t ever contact me again. I’m still a person, and I can’t keep getting hurt by you. Just let me go.”
“I…” Dahlia didn’t know how to respond.
Maybe it was best to cut ties completely. She had no choice but to give in to Luis for her brother, her family, and Dustin. Still, she had made up her mind. The day she married Luis would feel like the day she died.
“Alright, that’s enough. You’ve said what you needed to say,” Luis said with a mocking grin. “Dahlia, wait for me in the room. We’ll have some fun later.”
Dahlia stood still, but Dustin’s breathing became heavy.
“What are you waiting for? A show?” Luis looked at Dustin with disdain. “I have to admit, you have good taste in women. Her smooth skin is lovely! I’ll have a lot of fun later. You can watch if you want.”
“You’re dead meat!” Furious, Dustin kicked Luis in the stomach, sending him crashing into the wall, where he slumped down unconscious.
“Are you crazy, Dustin? Do you even realize what you’ve done?”
Dahlia turned pale when she heard Luis’s name. He was an aristocrat from Stonia, and upsetting someone like him could lead to serious trouble.
“What? Are you worried about him?” Dustin laughed. “I can’t believe you would fall for a creep like him. Are you sure your eyes are working right?”
“That’s none of your business! Get out! I never want to see you again!” Dahlia bit her lip, trying to keep her emotions in check. Hurting Luis was a big deal, and if his bodyguards showed up, Dustin would be in serious danger.
“Are you finally showing your true self? Ready to stop pretending?” Dustin chuckled coldly.
“So what? I’m not just dating him. We’re engaged, and our wedding is in three days!” Dahlia blurted out, surprising him.
“What? Engaged?” Dustin’s face darkened. “What’s wrong with you? How can you marry someone like him?”
“Who I marry is none of your concern! You’re right; I played with your feelings, but so what? You were foolish enough to believe me. Look in the mirror! Do you really think a broke loser like you can be with me? Luis is different. With his family and power, I’ll have a wonderful life! Compared to him, you’re nothing! There, that’s the truth you wanted! Are you happy now?” Dahlia shouted.
“You’re shameless!” In a moment of anger, Dustin slapped her, leaving a mark on her cheek.
He couldn’t believe he had struck her. In their three years of marriage, he had never lost control like that. But anger quickly replaced his shock.
“She deserves it!” he thought.
“I was a fool to trust you. Don’t ever show your face to me again!” Dustin spat before storming out.
Dahlia took a deep breath, trying to hold back her emotions. She knew this was the end for her and Dustin, but she wanted to believe it was a good ending. Still, her heart felt heavy with pain.
“Dahlia! What’s wrong?” Florence rushed in, her eyes widening when she saw Luis lying unconscious on the floor. “Did you do this?”
“Mom, Dustin just came by. He knows everything now. We’re never getting back together,” Dahlia cried, collapsing into her mother’s arms.
“Shh… I’m here,” Florence comforted her, gently rubbing Dahlia’s back. “Things have changed. Dustin isn’t the right guy for you anymore.”
“But I love him! I really want to be with him! Why is this happening to me? I don’t want to accept it!” Dahlia sobbed, feeling completely overwhelmed.
“Life has its ups and downs, Dahlia. Try to see the bright side. I believe you’ll find happiness again,” Florence said softly.
“Mom, it hurt so much when I said those awful things to him. It felt like a knife twisting in my heart! I wanted to tell him I loved him, but I couldn’t. I’m scared he might get arrested again. It hurts so much!” Dahlia cried, pounding her chest as if it could ease her pain.
As she continued to weep, her vision suddenly faded to black, and she lost consciousness.
