Dustin kept calling Dahlia as he drove, but no matter how many times he tried, she never picked up. An uneasy feeling settled in his stomach, as if something important was slipping away from him.

He pressed down on the gas and headed straight for Nicholson Villa. Since their divorce, he hadn’t stepped foot in that place, but right now, he didn’t care.

When he arrived, he rushed to the front door, ringing the doorbell and pounding on it.

“How rude! Can’t you knock gently?” an annoyed voice called out as the door opened.

“Dustin? What are you doing here?” Florence asked with a frown.

Dustin got straight to the point. “Where’s Dahlia? I need to see her!”

“What makes you think you can just barge in here? Get lost!” Florence snapped. She started to close the door, but Dustin quickly stuck his foot in the way.

“I know Dahlia is inside. I have to talk to her. Please let her know,” he said seriously.

“She doesn’t want to see you,” Florence replied coldly.

With a contemptuous look, she added, “My daughter’s engagement party with Mr. Langford is tomorrow. From then on, she’ll be Mrs. Langford. Someone like you doesn’t compare to him. So stop bothering my daughter!”

“Dahlia can’t marry Luis!” Dustin protested, frowning. “I know the truth. She was forced into this. She shouldn’t have to sacrifice herself. I can fix everything!”

“You can’t fix anything!” Florence shot back, glaring at him. “Rhys! Don’t meddle where you don’t belong! This is a chance for my daughter to marry into the Langford family. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect that!”

“Is money really more important than Dahlia’s happiness?” Dustin asked, desperate.

“Are you really happy?”

Dustin pleaded with her, “Luis is just a typical playboy with a bad temper. If Dahlia marries him, she’ll only end up unhappy!”

“That’s ridiculous!” Florence snapped back, angry. “Rhys! Don’t talk like that! Luis comes from a wealthy family and has good manners. He’s much better than you’ll ever be!”

To Florence, Dustin’s words were just jealousy. She thought he was badmouthing Luis because he felt threatened. She didn’t realize how mean he could be!

“Dahlia, I know you’re in there. Please come out and talk to me!” Dustin called out, hoping Dahlia could hear him despite Florence’s refusal to let him through.

“Shut up! I’m warning you. My daughter is not home. If you keep causing trouble, I’ll call the police!” Florence shouted back.

Dustin ignored her and continued, “Dahlia, listen! I don’t want your pity. Don’t make decisions for me! Do you really think Luis can hurt me? We’re divorced! Why would you risk your life for mine? Don’t think so highly of yourself!” His voice echoed through the villa.

“Hey! You’ve got some nerve!” Florence yelled, grabbing a broom, ready to hit him in her anger. But just then, a calm voice interrupted.

“Mom, let me talk to him…” Dahlia finally stepped outside.

“Dahlia, why did you come out? Just let me handle this rude boy,” Florence said, clearly upset.
