An Understated Dominance - Chapter 335
“Here comes the bride!” the officiant announced.
With cheers and applause from the crowd, Dahlia walked in, looking stunning in her beautiful white gown. She took her place at the altar on stage.
“Oh my God! The bride is so pretty. She looks like an angel!” someone exclaimed.
“They look so good together. They are truly a match made in heaven!” another person agreed.
As Dahlia arrived, the excitement in the air grew as everyone admired her beauty.
The ceremony began with Dahlia’s parents, John and Florence, seated in the front row alongside Luis’ fourth uncle. Seeing her daughter and Luis standing together at the altar made Florence smile. Her dreams of her daughter marrying into a wealthy family were finally coming true.
John smiled, but his eyes showed a mix of feelings. Even though he had been away for a long time, he had a sense of what was happening at home. Meanwhile, Luis’ uncle remained expressionless, showing little reaction.
“Dahlia is so lucky to marry Luis,” Dakota thought, watching the couple with jealousy. If she hadn’t been engaged, she believed she would have been the one up there.
“Hah… It seems like she’s lucky, but she might not be. With Luis’ personality, I worry Dahlia won’t have a happy marriage,” Jane said, shaking her head. She knew about Luis’ reputation.
Finally, it was time to exchange vows. The officiant asked, “Dahlia, do you take Luis to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?”
Luis smiled broadly, but Dahlia looked worried. After a moment of silence, the officiant realized she hadn’t responded.
“Dahlia, do you take Luis to be your wedded husband?”
Luis repeated the question, but Dahlia stayed silent. Deep down, she didn’t want to marry him, though she couldn’t quite understand why. This uncertainty made her hesitate at such a crucial moment.
“What’s going on? Why isn’t the bride saying anything?” people whispered.
“Is she having second thoughts?” others muttered.
Dahlia’s silence stirred up a wave of uneasy murmurs among the guests.
“Dahlia, what are you doing? Are you trying to embarrass me?” Luis glared at her, his eyes narrowing.
“If you humiliate me today, our agreement is off! I can’t promise what will happen next!”
Dahlia’s fists clenched at his threatening words, and she felt the pressure to give in.
“I…”
Just as she was about to speak her vows, a loud crash echoed through the hall. The doors swung open, and a tall figure walked in confidently.
“Dustin! What are you doing here?” Florence gasped, slamming her hand on the table as she jumped to her feet, shocked and angry.
“I’m here to… steal the bride!” Dustin declared boldly.
