An Understated Dominance - Chapter 354
Amid a fierce battle between two powerful masters, ordinary warriors had no chance of getting close. While the fight raged outside, Rufus, Gregory, and Albert were inside a medical clinic, happily enjoying some drinks.
Used to chaos, they paid little attention to the commotion outside. Caitlyn, who was pouring their drinks, felt differently. She anxiously glanced out the doorway, worry written all over her face.
How could Maximus handle all those opponents by himself?
“If only Mr. Rhys were here…” she thought, but then shook her head. No! Those people were after Dustin. If he were here, the situation would only get worse!
“Hey, kid! Stop worrying. That lad will be fine. Bring us another bottle of wine!” Gregory called out.
“Alright, I’m coming…” Caitlyn replied, quickly grabbing another bottle from the counter.
Seeing how calm the three men were, she frowned and asked, “Mr. Jones, aren’t you worried? If those bad guys come in, you could be in danger!”
“What’s there to worry about? Life is cheap. If we die, we die,” Gregory said casually.
“Gosh, don’t be so gloomy!” Caitlyn pouted. “Mr. Jones, you will live a long and healthy life. Even if there’s danger, I will protect you!”
With that, she picked up a mop and pretended to be a bodyguard, ready to defend the clinic. This made the three men laugh.
“She’s really something,” Rufus said with a grin. “Don’t worry. None of us will die today.”
“Really?” Caitlyn’s eyes brightened.
“Of course! Do you think I would lie about that?” Rufus chuckled and pointed at Albert. “See?”
The old man here? He’s quite powerful. Dealing with these minions is easy for him.
“Is that so?” Caitlyn looked at Albert with doubt. He was an elderly man in his sixties or seventies, walking with a cane. How could he possibly handle a fight? A strong gust of wind might knock him over!
After looking around, Caitlyn realized she was the youngest and strongest of the four. It seemed like the job of protecting everyone would fall to her. With that thought, she raised her mop again and stood watch at the entrance. Clearly, she didn’t trust the three older men.
“Rufus, these minions aren’t a real threat. But people know you’re here in Swinton. I doubt Streuqua will let this chance go by,” Albert said seriously.
“Are you suggesting someone might try to kill me?” Rufus asked as he took a sip from his glass.
“Yes,” Albert replied with a nod.
Rufus, the Prince of West Lucozia, was like an unbreakable shield. He could scare off the Gods of Streuqua all on his own. If someone tried to assassinate him, it could lead to a conflict at the border.
In West Lucozia, there were many skilled fighters to keep him safe. No matter how strong Streuqua was, they wouldn’t find any weak points. But in Swinton, things were different. Without the West Lucozia army and their death warriors, it was a rare chance for Streuqua to attempt an assassination.
That’s why Albert believed chaos was coming.
“Let them try. It’s not like this is the first time,” Rufus shrugged, looking unconcerned. Assassination attempts happened now and then in West Lucozia, so it was no surprise they might occur in Swinton too.
Outside the medical center, a fierce duel was taking place between two talented sword fighters. Both Maximus and Keane had injuries, making it hard to see who was winning.
Maximus moved quickly and precisely, showing off his fierce and aggressive techniques. In pure sword skills, he was better than Keane.
However, Keane was at a higher level of training and was in a more stable state, almost reaching a divine level of power. This made their battle very close.
“Since when did this kid become so strong?” Luther thought as he watched the fight from the crowd, clearly surprised. Keane was a skilled martial artist and a talented swordsman, yet he couldn’t defeat Maximus.
Had Maximus also reached a divine level?
“Ugh! What a waste of time!” Clement said, looking unhappy as he watched the battle from his car. He had expected his second disciple to win easily, but he was shocked to see him struggling against what he considered a mere minion.
As the fight remained at a standstill, Clement flicked his wrist, and a chess piece flew through the air, striking Maximus on the knee. Maximus groaned and fell to the ground.
In that moment, Keane lunged forward, thrusting his sword at Maximus!
