An Understated Dominance - Chapter 365
Dustin swung his sword, and bright rays of light shot from it. With incredible speed and power, he aimed for Nestor’s chest.
Suddenly, a large, translucent golden bell fell from the sky and landed around Nestor with a thud, blocking Dustin’s attack. When Dustin’s sword hit the bell, ripples spread out like waves on water.
There was no sound—no explosion or even a clang. The energy from Dustin’s strike was completely absorbed by the bell, leaving Nestor unharmed.
“What are you doing, Your Grace?” Nestor asked, his face calm.
“I’m getting rid of you!” Dustin replied, kicking off the ground and lunging at the bell with his sword. He struck it hard, creating more ripples, but the bell stayed solid and didn’t move at all.
“Your Grace, I bring orders from the master. Are you sure this is wise?” Nestor asked calmly.
Dustin didn’t answer. He kept attacking the bell, and gradually it began to vibrate, the ripples becoming more intense.
After about ten more strikes, Dustin’s sword suddenly broke with a loud clang and fell to the ground. It was just an ordinary sword and couldn’t handle the force of Dustin’s energy.
“That’s enough!” Rufus called out, stepping in when he saw Dustin still trying to hit Nestor.
“You can’t defeat him. There’s no point in continuing,” Rufus said.
“Who’s to say I can’t? We won’t know until this is over!” Dustin shot back defiantly. “He came here with orders, and he has someone backing him. If…”
Rufus warned, “If anything happens to him here, you won’t be able to handle the consequences!”
Dustin’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with rage. “So, you’re saying I should just stand here and watch my mother’s killer walk away? I can’t do that!” He looked ready to attack, like a wild animal.
“Listen to me, Logan,” Rufus said, shaking his head. Nestor was the King’s most trusted guard. If he died at their hands, it would lead to serious problems.
Rufus didn’t want his son caught up in the mess from years ago. It wasn’t the right time for that.
“Rufus Rhys, if you’re worried about getting involved, then stay out of it! I’ll take full responsibility for what happens today. This isn’t about the Rhys family!” Dustin shouted angrily, charging at Nestor with his broken sword.
This time, Nestor didn’t defend himself. He removed the golden bell that protected him and let Dustin come at him.
Just as Dustin was about to strike, a dragon cane blocked his sword.
“Mr. Logan! Please calm down! If you hurt him, many will die!” Albert warned seriously.
“How dare you stop me!” Dustin growled, his face twisted with fury. He looked ready to attack anyone who got in his way.
“Stop it, lad!” Gregory called from the back. “This fighting is pointless. If you want revenge, why not just march to Stonia and attack Aylka?”
Dustin clenched his jaw and took a deep breath. Finally, he held back his anger and stepped back. He knew that…
Nestor was just a puppet, with someone else pulling the strings.
Gregory was right. If Dustin wanted revenge, he needed to confront his enemies boldly and kill without hesitation. He wanted the powerful people in Aylka to be afraid of him!
“What are you doing just standing there, scum? Get out of here!” Rufus kicked Nestor harshly.
“I will leave now,” Nestor replied humbly. He nodded to them and turned to go. But before he left, he glanced back at Dustin with a challenging look.
“Listen up, Wilkins! In a year, I will come to Aylka just for you! I will fight you to the death at the highest fort in Aylka!” Dustin was filled with rage.
“I look forward to your challenge, Your Grace,” Nestor said with a brief smile before disappearing into the shadows.
“You acted too recklessly, young man! Even though he’s just an attendant, he’s an unmatched master in Aylka! The Sword Whisperer is the only one in all of West Lucozia who can stand a chance against him! Did you really think it would be easy to kill him?” Gregory said angrily.
His words seemed to hit Dustin harder than Rufus’s had.
“Of course, I know it wouldn’t be easy to kill him. I was just putting on a show,” Dustin replied, his previous fury replaced by calmness.
“Putting on a show?” Gregory was confused.
“Ten years ago, he made a complicated plan to get rid of me. I doubt his desire to eliminate me has changed in all this time. If I didn’t act first, he would find a way to assess me. I’d rather make the first move and show him how vengeful and fierce I can be.”
“I am,” Dustin said casually.
“Have you been acting this whole time, lad?” Gregory quickly realized what Dustin meant.
“Not exactly acting. I was serious about wanting to take him down. I just made myself look more impulsive and quick-tempered. I also showed him how little progress I’ve made over the years, so he wouldn’t be too cautious around me.” Dustin looked up at the sky with bright eyes. He had ten years of practice hiding his true feelings from others.
“The strong show weakness to their enemies, while the weak show strength. Well done, young man! You really have some clever tricks!” Gregory laughed heartily.
“Hah! He takes after his father!” Rufus said with pride.
Dustin ignored him and raised his sword. With a swift motion, he brought it down in an arc, slicing Clement in half as he tried to escape.
“Pl–please don’t kill me… I’m begging you, please don’t—” Luther and his two sons pleaded on their knees, tears streaming down their faces. But before they could finish, Dustin swung his sword again, beheading all three of them.
“I gave you plenty of chances, but you never valued them.” With that, he turned and walked to the center as if nothing had happened.
“Albert, spare no one,” Rufus commanded coldly.
“Yes, Sir.” Albert nodded. A fierce look filled his eyes as he turned to the members of Royal Valor. He resembled a hungry beast spotting its prey. They would pay with their lives for angering Rufus!
