Chapter 3433
Clarissa continued, “Kathryn, I’m just letting you sleep. I won’t harm you. I’m going to do something you won’t like. I’m sorry for embarrassing you. You are my daughter, and I’ve made things difficult for you. If I hadn’t acted the way I did, you would have been able to thrive.”
Clarissa took a tissue and wiped away her tears, letting out a sigh as she gazed at her sleeping daughter.
She recognized that Kathryn was truly exceptional.
Yet, due to her mother’s actions, Kathryn was troubled and in pain.
Kathryn was aware of everything she should and shouldn’t know.
Her identity limited her actions, and no one dared to criticize her.
Who could claim Kathryn was her biological daughter?
After observing Kathryn in silence for a few minutes, Clarissa composed herself. She reached for Kathryn’s phone to contact Pedro. However, Kathryn had set a password, and after several failed attempts, she had to abandon her efforts to reach Pedro through Kathryn’s phone.
Fortunately, as the head of the family, she had control. Pedro was initially assigned as her daughter’s assistant and had shown immediate loyalty when he began working with Kathryn.
It was easy for her to obtain Pedro’s contact information.
Clarissa swiftly got Pedro’s details from her assistant.
When Pedro answered Clarissa’s call, he appeared to understand the urgency behind her sudden outreach.
“Pedro, come to the Farrell family mansion,” Clarissa commanded in a serious tone.
Without waiting for his response, she added, “Kathryn has fallen into a coma. She won’t wake up for at least two days. I don’t trust…
“Anyone else? I’ll leave her with you to ensure her safety.”
Clarissa did not trust her husband or three sons. Although Kathryn was their biological daughter and sister, they had stronger feelings for Shiloh and harbored dissatisfaction and resentment towards Kathryn. They even believed that Kathryn’s existence had led to Shiloh’s tragic fall.
If they knew that she had drugged Kathryn, they would have acted against her while she was away from home. Clarissa didn’t want to take that risk. Perhaps they were hesitant to kill Kathryn, but they were willing to arrange for a lustful and reckless second-generation wealthy man to take advantage of Kathryn while she was unconscious and unable to resist, making the situation unavoidable.
“What happened with Miss?” Pedro asked, unable to conceal his anxiety upon hearing that Kathryn was unconscious.
Clarissa replied, “I gave her some medicine to help her sleep; her life is not in danger.” Kathryn might not have slept for two days, having only sipped a small amount of water.
“I’ll be there right away,” Pedro said urgently.
“Okay.” Clarissa promptly ended the call.
At that moment, there was a knock at the study door. Clarissa walked over, turned off the TV, and opened the door slightly, allowing those outside to glimpse a bit of the scene inside, though not clearly.
Standing at the door was Marco, holding a tray of food that Clarissa had not touched. Noticing his mother’s displeasure and visible anger, he seized the chance to sneak a quick look into the study.
The sight startled him. He saw Kathryn lying motionless on the desk, with broken cups scattered on the floor.
