Chapter 3448
-Zachary gave a few instructions before ending the call.
In the past, he would have wanted to chat for hours, but now, with something to conceal from Serenity, he ended the conversation quickly to avoid revealing too much.
Serenity had no reason to suspect anything; after all, it was the New Year, and everyone was busy. As the head of the York family, Zachary was busier than anyone else.
His younger brothers had grown up and were capable of taking care of themselves, though only a few remained in Wiltspoon—Callum, River, and Alex. Evan and Elian were often away, traveling frequently.
Kevin and Tatum hadn’t returned to Wiltspoon because of romance. With the elders visiting, they hadn’t focused much on Tatum’s situation in recent days and were unaware of any developments between Tatum and Elora.
Considering it had only been a few days, unless it was love at first sight, Elora wouldn’t fall for Tatum so quickly.
Serenity chose not to intervene and decided to wait until her brothers-in-law successfully wooed their wives. Once that happened, they would bring their spouses to meet their parents, and she would finally have the chance to meet them.
After putting down his phone, Zachary paused in silence before standing up and walking to the floor-to-ceiling window. He gazed out at the cityscape of Wiltspoon from his office on the top floor of the building.
“Knock, knock.”
A voice called from the door.
Without turning, Zachary replied in a low tone, “Come in.”
His bodyguard entered; Zachary wasn’t working late, just remaining in the office. His secretary had left, but the bodyguards were still stationed outside, waiting.
employees worked late, they knew President York was still in the office, as he often stayed late into the night.
“Sir, Mr. Lewis is here and would like to see you.”
Duncan is here? Zachary guessed that Duncan might be aware of Liberty’s current situation. He couldn’t hide it from Duncan, especially since the Lewis family also had bodyguards watching over Liberty.
“Let him in.”
Zachary didn’t stop Duncan from coming in.
The bodyguard responded respectfully. Shortly after, the two bodyguards who always accompanied Duncan ushered him inside.
Zachary turned away from the window and approached Duncan.
“You can leave now.” Zachary personally guided Duncan toward his desk.
The Lewis family bodyguard quietly exited the office.
Once Duncan was seated in front of the desk, Zachary asked, “Would you like some water or wine?”
Duncan, rubbing his temples, replied, “I don’t want anything to drink. Zachary, Liberty is in danger in Jensburg. She’s adamant about staying there to confront the head of the Farrell family. She believes she can’t keep avoiding them and needs to face the problem head-on. I can’t convince her otherwise, no matter how hard I try. Please help me persuade her to think about Serenity and Sonny.”
While Liberty might not be swayed by Duncan, she would surely consider Sonny and Serenity.
Zachary poured Duncan a glass of warm water. “Drink some water first. Would you like a midnight snack? Let’s have something to eat and discuss this calmly.”
“Zachary!” Duncan said in a low voice, “Why aren’t you worried at all? Liberty is just your sister-in-law; you don’t have to be concerned. I’m so anxious that I wanted to fly there overnight, but Liberty wouldn’t allow it. She said even if I went, I wouldn’t be able to help her.”
As he spoke, Duncan clenched his fist and struck his legs. “It’s all my fault that my legs are useless. I’ve been in rehabilitation for so long, but they still won’t recover. When…
Liberty needs my assistance, but I am unable to go due to my mobility issues. Although I wish I could fly over to help her, I realize that I would only be a burden.
