Chapter 3452
Liberty asked, “Did my mom really do nothing?”
Pedro responded, “Nothing was done, but Mr. Dunn met with Madam Farrell several times. I’m unsure what their discussions entailed.”
Pedro pulled over a chair, sat down beside the bed, and assisted Kathryn with the quilt.
“It snowed heavily again today,” he remarked.
Kathryn tilted her head to look out the window, watching the snowflakes drift down.
“Miss, you woke up quickly and asked me to inform Miss Hunt to be on alert. People from Wiltspoon have even arrived. Madam Farrell might alter her plans now that the situation has changed. Please rest and don’t worry; you’ve done your best.”
Even Liberty wouldn’t blame Kathryn. Although Clarissa was her biological mother, Kathryn chose to do what was right instead of siding with her.
Pedro added, “Miss, are you hungry? I can get breakfast for you.”
“I didn’t feel hungry until you mentioned it, but now I am,” Kathryn replied. “Order takeout, but don’t leave my side. In my current state, anyone could harm me.”
She was aware that her mother wouldn’t let her off easily after unveiling her plans. Her mother might even send someone to finish her off.
Pedro responded gently, “Okay.” He took out his phone and ordered takeout. “I’ll get some water so you can wash your face.”
Pedro stood up to fetch water, but Kathryn stopped him. “I can go myself,” she said, wanting to use the bathroom.
Pedro helped her up. Noticing her frown, he quickly said, “Miss, sit for a moment first so you don’t get dizzy.”
Kathryn nodded. After a short while, she walked to the bathroom with Pedro’s support. “I feel like an elderly woman in her 80s or 90s. Even they seem better off. For instance, the old
“The lady of the York family still flies around, selecting wives for her grandsons,” Kathryn thought, feeling a twinge of envy towards Old Madam York.
“Miss, when you reach Old Madam York’s age, you’ll be just as strong as she is. You have a solid physical foundation,” Pedro reassured her.
Perhaps it was a result of her challenging upbringing, but Kathryn enjoyed good health. If nothing unforeseen occurred, she could potentially live to a ripe old age.
“I dare not think about it. Even if I reach that age, I doubt I’ll be as fortunate as Old Madam York, surrounded by children and grandchildren. Mr. Fraser, please wait for me outside. I’ll be fine,” Kathryn insisted, declining Pedro’s offer of assistance to the bathroom. They weren’t that close yet.
Pedro paused at the bathroom door. “Miss, if you feel dizzy at all, please call me,” he said.
“Yeah, I can manage,” Kathryn replied, shutting the bathroom door.
Pedro stood guard outside. A few minutes later, someone knocked on the ward door.
“Who is it?” Pedro asked coldly, moving cautiously to look through the small transparent window. He saw four figures: Holden and his three sons.
Pedro opened the door and let them in. “Mr. Janzen,” he greeted frostily, nodding to the three brothers.
The four of them—father and sons—were unfazed by Pedro’s chilly demeanor, as they were accustomed to the aloofness of assistants who were only loyal to Clarissa.
