The Amazing son in law Chapter 6647
When Jacob received the news, a wave of relief washed over him. After the ordeal, he sincerely expressed, “How could this be? I promise I won’t hold any grudge against you.”
Elaine, brimming with excitement, replied, “Look, my daughter has been in the United States for quite some time, and she finally returned today. Let’s not make a scene here; it’s time to head home!”
Jacob, feeling a deep sense of relief, nodded earnestly, tears welling in his eyes as he affirmed, “Alright! Let’s go home!”
With that, they lovingly linked arms and walked out together.
Claire stood in shock, while Charlie Wade wiped the cold sweat from his brow. It felt like they had risked everything just to start anew, and it appeared to have worked. Elaine would likely never bring up Matilda again and would go to great lengths to avoid her.
This meant that what Charlie had said earlier wouldn’t turn out to be misleading after all.
Claire, regaining her composure, whispered, “Husband, you’re amazing! This really makes you happy!”
Charlie Wade chuckled lightly, “I can’t help it; for the sake of family harmony, I felt embarrassed. No more about that.”
Claire happily wrapped her arm around his and declared, “You sacrificed a little for the greater good. You did a fantastic job, Husband!”
Meanwhile, outside, the traffic police noticed the two individuals who had been at odds just moments earlier now walking hand in hand. Everyone rubbed their eyes in disbelief.
The traffic officer in charge of the case asked, almost instinctively, “You two aren’t going to fight anymore, are you?”
Elaine quickly shook her head, saying, “No fighting! We don’t want to add to the trouble for our traffic police friends!”
She then offered a rare bow to the officers.
Jacob promptly added, “Comrade traffic police, don’t worry! I won’t stop on the highway again!”
The officer nodded, saying, “As long as you understand. You only have three points left on your driver’s license, so take it easy. If you don’t buckle up, you’ll need to study.”
Jacob affirmed, “I promise to follow the traffic laws from now on and won’t cause you any trouble!”
Afterward, the family of four left the traffic police station one by one. Charlie Wade helped Claire with her luggage and, as they approached the car, Elaine said, “Good son-in-law, you drive us home, and let your dad relax in the back.”
Charlie nodded and took a seat in the front with Claire, while Jacob and Elaine settled into the back seat.
As they drove away, Charlie glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Elaine tenderly touching the bruise on Jacob’s face, her expression filled with concern. “Honey, does it hurt? I’m so sorry…” she whispered.
Jacob felt a deep warmth in his heart. The words he had just spoken made him let go of any lingering feelings of superiority, significantly shifting his attitude toward Elaine.
He shook his head, saying, “It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt.”
Then, without thinking, he reached out and gently held Elaine’s hand, causing a faint blush to rise on her cheeks.
Elaine squeezed his hand back and said earnestly, “You are my husband, and you will never say you’re worthless again. Not under any circumstances. Do you understand?”
Jacob, unsure if he was genuinely moved or just pretending, nodded repeatedly with teary eyes, “Okay, wife, I understand!”
