Charlie shook his head firmly, “I can’t help with that. You’re on your own.”

He added, “I do have contacts in the detention center. If you end up there, I can arrange for someone to look after you.”

Jacob sighed, feeling defeated. He dreaded the thought of enduring detention like Elaine had. Yet, after a moment, he regained his determination, clenching his fists. “It’s fine; worst case, I’ll find another way to get back at him. Since he dares to return to Aurous Hill, I won’t let him off the hook. If I don’t rectify this, how can I show my face on Antique Street in the future?” With that, he turned and left the restaurant without another word.

Claire looked at Charlie with concern, saying, “Husband, please keep an eye on Dad and make sure he doesn’t create any trouble.”
