The Amazing son in law Chapter 6662
Claire wasted no time; he promptly pulled out his mobile phone and transferred $50,000 into each of their accounts.
The two were naturally overjoyed upon seeing the money. Elaine gazed at the display that read “$50,000 deposits” and couldn’t help but reflect, “If my daughter and her wonderful son-in-law keep progressing like this, perhaps our family won’t be as overshadowed by Matilda in the future. Matilda is just so different!”
Jacob replied awkwardly, “Why do you keep bringing up Matilda?”
Elaine quickly clarified, “I don’t mean anything by it; I just feel worse every time I see how well she’s doing. It feels so unbalanced. How much does her wonderful son-in-law have again? Billions, right?”
Charlie Wade casually remarked, “A conservative estimate would be around one billion U.S. dollars.”
“One billion U.S. dollars…” Elaine mused. “That’s a hundred million, which is ten million, and one billion is one thousand. If the initial project budget is two million U.S. dollars, that means they would need to undertake at least five hundred projects…”
Charlie Wade quickly interrupted, “Mom, don’t dwell on that. Their money in the bank earns tens of millions in interest each year; it’s not even comparable!”
As he spoke, Charlie Wade remembered that he was set to witness Matilda and Hank’s wedding next week, and he was concerned about Elaine’s potential reaction. He thought about how to prevent any unpleasantness and suggested, “Dad, Mom, you both have been working so hard lately. Why not take a vacation somewhere nice? Enjoy yourselves and treat it as a second honeymoon. You can pick the destination, and I’ll cover the costs.”
Hearing this, Elaine was thrilled: “That sounds amazing! I haven’t had a chance to travel in ages! The last time I went to the United States, I had such a terrible experience before I even left.”
She then turned to Jacob, expressing her frustration: “When we got married, you didn’t care at all! It’s fine that the wedding wasn’t extravagant, but you didn’t even take me on a honeymoon!”
Jacob chuckled, “You ran off with the ball at that time; where was I supposed to take you for the honeymoon?”
He quickly added, “But since our wonderful son-in-law suggested it, choose a place you love and let’s treat it as a honeymoon for that year!”
Both Elaine and Jacob realized they hadn’t traveled in a long time. Jacob recalled the last time he went to South Korea for an exchange program, which he had hoped would be a blend of love and career. Instead, he felt overshadowed by Hank’s presence, which made the trip quite challenging and unenjoyable. The recent news of Matilda’s upcoming marriage also dampened his spirits, making the idea of a getaway a perfect opportunity to relax and uplift his mood.
Furthermore, Charlie Wade was offering to pay, so there was no financial burden on them.
With excitement, Elaine turned to Jacob and asked, “Where’s the most fun place to go?”
Jacob pondered for a moment and suggested, “What about Europe? Or maybe a resort like the Maldives or Mauritius?”
Suddenly, Elaine had a thought and exclaimed, “Will Matilda be going on a honeymoon after her wedding? Where might they go?”
Jacob replied, a bit sheepishly, “I’m not sure where they’d head off to.”
Elaine contemplated, then said, “Someone like Matilda, who loves to show off her artistic side, will probably choose a beautiful tropical island to soak in nature. I don’t want to accidentally run into her. Can you imagine if they’re in the presidential suite, flying on a private jet? I’d be so upset!”
Jacob responded, “The world is so vast; what are the chances we’d cross paths?”
Elaine replied earnestly, “As long as someone like her exists, it’s like they can find trouble anywhere. Even drinking cold water can lead to chaos.”
Suddenly, she got an idea and exclaimed with excitement, “I’ve got it! Let’s go somewhere less classy! If it’s tacky enough, we definitely won’t run into Matilda!”
Jacob inquired, “Where’s a tacky place? How about Singapore or Thailand?”
Elaine scoffed, “Who goes to Singapore or Thailand anymore? It can be tacky, but it has to be both rich and tacky!”
With determination, she declared, “If we’re going, let’s go to Dubai! It’s a place where people spend extravagantly, and I doubt Matilda would choose it for her honeymoon. It’s perfect for shopping and spending—after all, what do you think my daughter is getting this money for? Isn’t it to shop abroad?”
“Wow…” Jacob applauded, “You’re really onto something! Dubai it is!”
Elaine then turned to Charlie Wade and asked, “What do you think about Dubai, good son-in-law?”
Charlie Wade nodded in agreement, “I think it sounds great; let’s book Dubai!”
Elaine feigned concern, “But you know, the cost of living in Dubai is pretty high…” Charlie Wade waved her worries away cheerfully, “Mom, don’t stress. I’ll handle it. Didn’t Claire give you $100,000? I’ll give you another $100,000 too!”
