In the days that followed, Charlie Wade rarely found time to relax. However, this brief respite came to an end when his mother-in-law, Elaine, called to inform him that she and Jacob had booked a flight back to Aurous Hill from Dubai.
Initially, the couple planned to extend their stay in the UAE, but Elaine grew weary of Jacob’s constant sighing and lack of enthusiasm. After a few days of vacation, she felt compelled to return home.

Then, Jacob turned to Charlie Wade with a pleading look: “Good son-in-law, since you’re on good terms with Master Don Albert, could you possibly speak to him about putting some pressure on the Pei family? That old scoundrel was once polite, but since Master Don Albert stopped advocating for me, he turned around and betrayed me!”
Charlie Wade nodded in agreement: “I’ve heard about the situation. The Pei family hasn’t been treating you fairly.”
“Exactly!” Jacob exclaimed, encouraged by Charlie Wade’s support. “This old bastard is the kind of person who uses you for his gain but discards you once he’s done! You know the saying—he picks up the bowl to eat but puts down the chopsticks to curse!”
Jacob continued, “You need to act quickly. Pei is being considered for a promotion. If he moves up and leaves the Calligraphy and Painting Association, it’ll be even harder for me to join in the future. I must ask Master Don Albert to exert some influence before that happens.”
